A collection of various correspondence, reports, papers, and photographs from Robert Olds' military career. Of significant importance is an excellent collection of documents pertaining to Olds' participation in the origin, planning, organization, and mission of the Air Corps Ferrying Command. Considerable depth and detail are offered to relate to the Command's scope of development and operation procedures for ferrying American bombers to potential war theaters.

Robert Olds earned his commission in the Aviation Section of the Signal Reserve in 1917 and received his final promotion as a Major General in 1942. Highlights of his career included duty with the War Plans Division of the Office of the Chief of the Air Service, as the Chief Inspector at Langley Field, as Commander of the 2d Bombardment Group at Langley Field, as commander of several goodwill flights to South America, and as commander of the Air Corps Ferrying Command.
